Attention all actors, singers, and fellow creatives, there is an opportunity to have your voice heard in a documentary that allows the world to see how beautiful the Black community is here in Grand Rapids.

Grand Stand Pictures is creating a documentary revolving around the 2012 book, "A City Within a City" by Todd E. Robinson.

Grand Stand Pictures' mission is

"to bring you on a journey of discovering narratives from our community, past and present. Our aim is to help define our future by elevating voices of resilience, ingenuity and talent, unveiling the many unheralded and overlooked stories that truly make our community grand."

And they are doing just that!

Victor Williams, president of Grand Stand Pictures, and other producers are opening up its studio for auditions.

Auditions will be held at 1110 Wealthy St. SE, every second and fourth Saturday of this month for two hours, 10 AM to 12 PM.

According to their Eventbrite website, they are looking for

"talented homegrown individuals in the genres of Gospel, Soul, Jazz, R&B, HipHop/Rap, Rock and Spoken Word to help bring the Black Freedom Struggle of Grand Rapids, Michigan to life."

Williams says that they are looking for undiscovered talent who can be the next Al Green, El DeBarge, Adina Howard, or Anthony Kiedis.

Both of these legendary artists have Grand Rapids ties and went on to be incredibly successful.

He told MLive that

"We want as many talented people that the city has to offer."
