Here in Michigan we love our festivals and carnivals. From great entertainment to the elephant ears it's generally a great family experience. I'm a huge fan of the rides but as I get older I can't handle some of them like I could when I was a kid. What rides did you love as a kid that would make you sick today? Get your bracelet or grab some tickets and let's go for a ride!

The Gravitron

Set up for the first time in Wildwood, New Jersey back in 1983, the Gravitron has become a classic carnival ride. With other names like Starship 2000, Alien Abduction and more the Gravitron has been a staple at carnivals.

Tilt-a-Whirl

Another classic ride that has been tilting and whirling riders for almost a century is the Tilt-a-Whirl. Invented in 1926 and released in 1927, this ride still thrills ride-goers.

Round-Up

Released in the 1950s, the Round-Up is similar to the Gravitron using centrifugal force, but as opposed to simply spinning the Round-Up actually tilts with the G-forces holding riders in place.

Scrambler

The Scrambler, or Sizzler, has been another carnival classic since it was invented in and started thrilling riders in 1938.

More Michigan Carnival Ride Favorites

These are just a few of the rides that abruptly move you from side-to-side, back-and-forth, upside-down and even spin you to the point of beyond dizziness. Some of these gems include the Zipper, Sky Wheel, Himalaya, Yo-Yo, Magic Carpet and my personal favorite, the Loop-O-Plane (also known as the Bullet and the Salt & Pepper Shakers).

Here is list of Michigan's 10 favorite carnival rides. Did yours make the list? What rides do you still enjoy, and what ones make you sick to your stomach? Let us know on our app!
