Forecasters Split on Michigan’s First Snow Totals of the Season
updated at 7:30pm on 11/8/25
Much of Lower Michigan is poised to see its first snowfall of the season this weekend!
Weather forecasters aren't quite in lockstep regarding exactly how much snowfall any given area might see. Some areas of Mid-Michigan could see up to 4" according to some forecasts, while others may see a trace of snowfall at best.
When Will the Snow Begin?
What begins as rain during the day on Saturday will likely mix with then eventually change over to wet snow in the overnight hours heading into Sunday morning.

"Most of this accumulation will be on grassy surfaces. The battle will be the snow trying to add up on the warm ground," says WILX News 10 Meteorologist Colton Cichoracki. He expects the highest totals in Mid-Michigan to be along the I-94 corridor.
Meteorologists Don’t Fully Agree
AccuWeather still thinks it's safe to expect totals ranging from 1-3" across Mid-Michigan, with places like Ionia and Portland definitely on the lower end of that range. The National Weather Service projects around an inch or two for most of the area with the possibility of 2-4" in certain locations.
