I’ve written about many, many haunted locations throughout Michigan. Some I don’t believe, some are outlandish, some seem made up, and others I feel do have some fact to them.

This one sounds like pure urban legend to me, but ya never know. You've heard of 'party killers'? This guy really was. A place called the AA Ranch in Bay City was on Euclid Road in the early 1900s. A farmer lived in this dwelling who seems to have been a little bubble off a plum: nuts, crazy...and possibly somewhat vengeful. He had been known to throw parties for his neighbors but most of the time, they were never able to leave......they were all dead.

After he did away with his quests (by poisoning or drugging?), he proceeded to hang their bodies on huge baling hooks in his barn. It is speculated that a guest survived one of his homicidal parties, was able to sneak away, and contact the local police. Not long afterward, the police showed up and went out to question the farmer. Not wasting much time, they asked to look in the barn.....upon entering, they found all the evidence they needed.

Faced with the gruesome sight, the officers did not waste time: they dragged him outside, lynched him from one of his own trees, and buried him on the property.

Ever since, the urban legend grew that the farmer and his victims haunt the farmland.

There’s another tale about that land. This one is from the 1800s when the ranch was part of the Underground Railroad. One day the farm was invaded by slave-seeking bounty hunters. For some unknown reason, they dragged out a young boy and his mother, murdered the mother in full view of the boy, then killed him as well. Now the boy haunts the land.

Probably thanks in part to these urban legends, the farmhouse was torn down many years ago. The former farm on Euclid Road still receives plenty of unwanted ghost hunters and thrill-seekers to this day.  There is some private property down there so be respectful and obey all "No Trespassing" signs.

Interesting stories to be sure, but whether you believe them or not is up to you.
