Michigan City Ranked One of America’s Rudest
I'm always skeptical when I see lists like these, but Preply seems to have nailed this. The Rudest Cities in America can be determined in several ways. Still, after reading the top 46 and spending considerable time in the Michigan city that made the list, I can't argue with the findings.

Rudeness isn't fenced in by geography; it can scale fences and penetrate even the most formidable defenses. Some of the rudest behaviors I've seen exhibited have taken place in gatherings of like-minded, supposedly well-intended people (anyone raised in the church knows exactly what I'm talking about).
Michigan's Rudest Behaviors
Preply conducted surveys in 46 US cities and asked what behavior people viewed as the rudest. Tied for first: "Lack of self-awareness" and "Talking on speakerphone in a shared space." Another tie for third is between "Being loud in shared spaces" and "Watching videos or listening to music out loud in a shared space," followed by "Lack of care for others," which round out the top five.
It's hard to argue with Preply's findings, as each of these situations (while arguably all falling under the "Lack of self-awareness" umbrella) is something we encounter daily in Michigan, regardless of which city or town you're in. Who am I kidding? You can experience every single one of these behaviors with one trip to Meijer.
The Rudest City in Michigan
While one of Michigan's cities landed as one of the nation's 46 rudest, it should be noted that in Preply's last rankings, conducted in 2022, this city ranked as the sixth rudest in the United States. It has drastically improved two years later but remains in the top 30.
