Unluckiest to Luckiest: Ranking ‘Luck’ in 17 Michigan Casinos

I know. How do you rate luck? I thought the same thing. The term 'the odds are always on the house' comes to mind when considering risking any serious money (more than 20 bucks) at a casino. If I decided to risk more, I'd want to know where my best odds of winning were. It turns out there's a study for that. Casinos.com was able to rank 17 Michigan casinos based on luck.

I have NEVER been lucky in casinos, but I've seen other people win. I know some Michiganders who have left with tens of thousands of dollars on more than one occasion. Me? A quarter-sucking slot machine will drain my Jefferson in less than five minutes.

It's not as if there was a lack of opportunity to do so in Michigan, with slot machines and betting windows popping up steadily since the state's first casino opened in Mt. Pleasant in 1994. Michigan is home to 26 casinos, which may not sound like a lot, but consider that there are only 11 states in the US with more.

Though I'm not a betting man, I'd wager that most frequent casino goers have not just a favorite casino but a preferred dealer, machine, or seat, along with a good luck charm or two. Maybe it's a pre-casino parking lot ritual or stopping at a certain restaurant or gas station before hitting the floor.

Whether or not luck can be tangibly measured, it is something that many gamblers rely on or even blame after a losing effort on the casino floor.
