There is no place in the entire state of Michigan that can escape the possibility of being haunted. When you think of the billions of people who have lived and died on Earth for thousands - possibly millions of years – the odds are great. Settlers died as they traveled and were buried along the road, plenty of wars – known and unknown – where bodies were left to eventually be covered up as the ages went by, and ages-old graveyards get overgrown, forgotten, and lost to time. No matter where you are standing, the odds are there is someone dead underneath you.

Such is the case with the little southeast corner of Michigan's Shiawassee County in the town of Byron. While there seems to be a handful of paranormal activity happening in Byron, the most well-known tale is the legend of the McGuire House on Vernon Road.

Legend has it that a house was occupied by a farmer named Nick Bradon, who was out plowing his field when he fell off the tractor, was run over, and chopped up by the tractor blades.....ripping his body to shreds.

Since his unexpected and gruesome death, his farmhouse was sold and eventually occupied by a new family. Soon, family members experienced occurrences that they swear are paranormal. They would hear footsteps that had no source, lights turned on and off, and rocking chairs rocked by themselves.

Probably the creepiest thing they experienced was waking up during the night to see shadowy shapes of humans standing in the doorway or by the bedside staring and watching them as they sleep.

What are some of the other activities that have been reported in Byron?

More than one person has seen the apparition of "Old Lady Byron". She was a woman who mourned the death of her husband by dressing in black and walking through town. When she died, she reportedly kept making her nightly strolls through town. Her lightly glowing spirit has been seen on several nights as she made her way to the cemetery: floating, not walking.....with her feet not touching the ground.

Green lights have been seen floating in mid-air in the Byron cemetery between 7pm-10pm. Other Byron people have tales of their own...and they are serious.
