Michigan Residents May Have Issues Getting Taxes Back This Year
Every year as spring turns the corner, we look forward to getting some money back from the taxes we paid in the previous year. However, this year in Michigan, there may be some issues with getting your taxes back in a timely manner.
This is all stemmed from the Trump administration’s efforts to shrink the size of the federal workforce, when he made the order for agencies to start laying off almost all of the probationary employees who hadn’t gotten civil service protection. Because of that, the IRS is laying off the thousands of workers, with terminations beginning possibly this week.

This is all coming from sources who are on the inside of the agency's plans, and have a good idea of what to expect in the coming months. But the person behind the firings is actually Elon Musk, the man who once offered to end world hunger, and instead purchased Twitter, who is in charge of the Department of Government Efficiency, or DOGE.
Currently, the IRS is projected to lay off 7000 of its nearly 90,000 employees, which is roughly 10%. So if there are some issues with getting your taxes back, or even getting your taxes done, this may be the reason why. As of right now, the government isn’t sure exactly how residences will be affected until tax season is in full force, according to Time magazine.
Have you already filed your taxes, or do you plan on doing them yourself to get a jump start to the process?
