Obviously, every state has some strange laws still in place from decades ago, some even from centuries back. For example, in Kalamazoo, it's illegal to "sing to your Sweetheart." It's also illegal to tie an alligator to a fire hydrant in Detroit. But most of those are either grandfathered out, or just simply aren't enforced anymore.

Believe it or not, though, there are some common practices in Michigan that people continue to do, when in reality, they're actually illegal, and law enforcement can absolutely enforce it... and sometimes will.

There are federal laws in place that span across all of the United States, but each state has its own unique sets and subsets of rules and laws that must be followed. Marijuana, for example, is fully legal in Michigan, but in some of our surrounding states, it isn't. This means, even if you're FROM Michigan, and you're caught with it in those states, you can still face the charges.

But In Michigan, some simple things we do on a regular basis (thinking they're legal, or "just fine") are actually still VERY much against the law.
