The annual Fred & Dorothy Fichter Butterflies Are Blooming exhibition is the largest temporary tropical butterfly exhibition in the nation. Tropical butterflies from around the world fly freely in the Lena Meijer Tropical Conservatory every March and April. Throughout the exhibition, there is special educational programming and the Lena Meijer Children’s Garden offers butterfly-themed activities. The Grand Rapids Griffins are back on their home ice at VanAndel Arena this weekend. On Friday they take on Rockford IceHogs. It's a Friday night game, that means $2 Beers and $ Hot Dogs! It will also be the 11th Annual Purple Game presented by Van Andel Institute with a Purple Jersey Auction. On Saturday, the Griffins will be playing the Cleveland Monsters. It will be Margaritaville Night with a trucker hat giveaway and post game player autographs. Both games start at 7 pm.

Daylight Saving Time begins on Sunday, March 12 at 2 am. Most people will set their clocks ahead before they go to bed on Saturday night or first thing when they get up on Sunday morning. Remember to "spring forward" or you will be an hour late for everything! It also means  your weekend will be an hour shorter (boo!!). The time change is also a great reminder to check the batteries in your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.
