Lions QB Jared Goff Nominated For NFL ‘Man of The Year’
An emotional Jared Goff was told this week that he is the team's choice for the Walter Payton Man Of The Year Award for his charitable contributions to the community.
Goff Was Told Of His Nomination By The Young People He Helped
Jared Goff had big shoes to fill when he arrived as the Lions quarterback last season. After all, his predecessor, Matthew Stafford was very well loved in Detroit.
But Goff has been blazing his own trail this season. Leading the team to four wins in five games, and reaching out into the Detroit community and making an impact there.
For his charitable efforts around the Motor City, Goff was named this week as the team's nominee for the NFL's Walter Payton Man of the Year Award.
The Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award recognizes an NFL player for his excellence on and off the field. Each team nominates one player who has had a significant positive impact on his community.
Goff Used His Clothing Line To Reach Out And Enable Detroit Students
Jared's JB-16 line of clothes was developed as a way to help students not only design and develop some of the items sold, but the money stays in Detroit to help fund STEM labs.
Jared Goff sets the standard as it relates to the lifestyle of giving back as he simultaneously is serving both the Inglewood and Detroit communities. He personally delivers his message of "Follow Your Dreams" to the youth of each community he serves. Jared's actions speak louder than words as he opens doors of opportunity for young students to demonstrate their talents, giving them real-world experiences and providing - above all - hope and encouragement that they can and will succeed. The Detroit Lions are proud to select Jared Goff as their 2022 Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year.
He talked with the NFL Network's Good Morning Football this week about his nomination and how he has tried to reach out to his newly adopted hometown.
