Surprise! People Are Moving From Florida to Michigan!
We read so much about the flight of Michiganders. For differing reasons, individuals and families are reportedly moving from Michigan to other states. But, guess what? It's surprising that so many people are moving to, or even back, to Michigan.
And even more surprising, many people are moving from Florida and California to Michigan. What's up here?
Climate is one big reason. Our sister station WKFR reports that we have lower temperatures rather that the excessive heat of California and Florida. And you certainly will be able to avoid hurricanes, earthquakes, and wildfires here as well.
But, it seems that is not the main reason. It is the cost of living along with rising costs, erratic traffic, politics, insurance costs, extreme weather, of course, and lack of, or better, services, according to the Hudson Valley Post. The Post was reporting that thousands are moving back to New York from Florida as well.
WKFR wrote that Stacker put together a list of states sending the most people to Michigan using data from the Census Bureau. In 2022, over 17,500 people moved from Florida to Michigan. In the same year, 13,939 people moved from California to Michigan.
👇BELOW: MICHIGAN IS AMAZING, ESPECIALLY SEEN FROM SPACE! 👇
It's a fact that Michigan has many "snow birds." When the cold weather hits it has always been time to head south for lots of retired people, or people who happen to be among the idle rich. Ha!
But with what seemed like a hot spot to live a few years ago in Florida and California, and cost somewhat of a bundle, is not such a worthy asset now. Homes for sale are staying on the market for more than 70 to 98 days now, and values have dropped around 40% in many cases.
It's time to head to the beauty of Michigan and the Great Lakes!
