If salad is on you menu, you're also planning for the dressing. Will it be out of a bottle, or home made?

I have an idea. If you were a Big Boy fan you probably remember their fantastic ranch dressing. Since ranch seems to be a universal favorite of all, did you know that you can make it yourself?

Sadly, there aren't many Big Boy restaurants around here anymore, but not to worry because I think I have found the recipe for their ranch dressing.

There has been a lot of chatter on Reddit.com/Michigan regarding this dressing and it seems that the secret has been revealed!

Everyone who has made the dressing raves that it is much better than any store bought ranch, so why not give it a try. Put a little elbow grease into it and poof, Big Boy Ranch Dressing!

Here you go according to Reddit.com/michigan readers:

Kalamazoo says,
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 3 tablespoons Hidden Valley Ranch dressing mix (you can buy it in dry packets)
  • salt, to taste

Blend together with mixer.

Bowl with mayonnaise isolated on white background.

If you need more that what this recipe would provide, another Reddit.com/michigan reader offered their solution by saying you need 1 commercial sized Hidden Valley Ranch packet, 2.5lbs of sour cream, and 2lbs of mayonnaise, and about 1.5/2 cups of milk to get the consistency right. You can get the commercial sized hidden valley packets at Gordon Food Service or costco business center stores.

That should hold you for awhile!

Happy Thanksgiving!
