Big Trouble for Flanagan’s As Bank Seizes All Assets!
For 44 years, Flanagan's Irish Pub, on Pearl Street in downtown Grand Rapids, was a mainstay and place to go if you wanted an authentic Irish time. The beer, Guinness, Smithwick's, and others were always on tap and the vibe was always fun and welcoming. That is until 2025.
Flanagan's closed it's doors in June of 2025 because they lost their liquor license. The Michigan Liquor Control Commission pulled the plug when the owners failed to pay thousands of dollars in fines.

Sadly, Flanagan's has now been seized by its lender after its owners defaulted on a $750,000 loan along with losing their liquor license.
I guess there was always hope they would cough up the money and be able to reopen, but not now. Flanagan's has been seized by its lender because of a default on that $750,000 loan.
Crain's Business/Grand Rapids reported Chicago-based Byline Bank called the loan in from the owners but nothing happened so they began their lawsuit.
Flanagan's was always a fun place to go, Irish or not. I have written about it in the past as one of the most haunted building in downtown Grand Rapids.
In 2023, Grand Rapids was visited by a group from Detroit, the Detroit Paranormal Expeditions. They wanted to visit Flanagan's Irish Pub, downtown because they had heard stories of very strange things happening such as glasses and other items flying off shelves on their own.
What is next for Flanagan's? Nobody knows and nobody is talking. However, it has been noticed work is going on over there.
Hmmm! Maybe just removal of furnishings, or possible a rehab for something new, or, it's those ghosts rummaging around!
