Free Dog Adoption Week Coming To West Michigan Humane Society

It's always a special time when Winni from the Humane Society comes to visit with an adoptable pet. It's especially sweet when a cute and sweet puppy visits.

Wednesday's are always "Wet Nose Wednesday" on Andy in the Morning, brought to you BATHWORKS OF MICHIGAN, an Industry Ace on 100.5 The River.

Our little sweetheart today is Fendi, a young puppy ready to find a family of her own!

Like all puppies, Fendi is still learning about the world and will need patience, training, and plenty of positive experiences as she grows. Puppies thrive with consistency, socialization, and lots of love as they develop into confident adult dogs. Are you ready?Fendi can't wait to meet you!

The Humane Society has a big surprise for you all this week. It is Free Dog Adoptions week!

You can celebrate National Dog Week with a new best friend! From September 22–27, adoption fees are WAIVED for dogs 6 months and older. Their Free Dog Adoption Week is part of the ASPCA’s The Rescue Effect, helping more shelter pets find homes and making room for even more animals in need.

Here is more good news. Teen Club is back at the Humane Society of West Michigan!

It is designed for teens ages 13 to 17, and gives young animal lovers the opportunity to get a behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to care for animals in a shelter. Each session focuses on a different part of shelter work and may include walking and working with dogs, socializing cats and small animals, helping with shelter tasks, learning about the adoption process, and exploring careers in animal welfare.

Teen Club meets every other Tuesday starting October 6 from 4:30 to 6 p.m., and each session is $20. It’s a great opportunity for teens who love animals, are interested in careers like veterinary medicine or animal welfare, or are simply curious about what happens behind the scenes at an animal shelter.

Because the regulation of exotic animals is left to states, some organizations, including The Humane Society of the United States, advocate for federal, standardized legislation that would ban owning large cats, bears, primates, and large poisonous snakes as pets.
