Young Boys Saved From Fire by a Trash Dumpster

There are many ways to fight a fire and to save people trapped in a burning building, but you don't normally think of a trash dumpster for helping in a rescue.

That is exactly what the Oakland County Sheriff Department deputies used to rescue children from a house that was on fire and two children were trapped in an upstairs bedroom with heavy smoke. Say that again?

Yes, a residential trash dumpster.

The Oakland County Sheriff's Fire Departments got a call about the fire and the children who were trapped upstairs. Well, the Oakland Sheriff deputy, Musse, got there first.

Now what? They don't have a ladder and none was in sight. They needed more height to reach the children, so they improvised and dragged over a residential trash dumpster to stand on. One deputy reached up as each child climbed out of the window and was able to secure them and hand them off to another waiting deputy safely on the ground. Now that was quick thinking and two young boys were safe and sound.

The fire department got there quickly and attacked the fire as no one else was inside, that is except for the family dog. They rescued the dog, who is doing well, extinguished the fire fast so there was no further damage and all was well.

Job well done, and a tragedy was averted.

For sure, this was some quick thinking. Instead of standing around waiting for the firemen to arrive, the Sheriff deputies improvised and jumped into action. Excellent job gentlemen.
