I'm not afraid to admit- when I'm walking around the Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park in Grand Rapids, I find myself saying "Ooo, What's that?" more often than not. I'm always learning about new plants, butterflies, and sculptures every time I visit this beloved Grand Rapids location.

So, if you've seen their logo before- you've probably seen that little scribble that shows up next to their name. It turns out it's not a random wave of the pencil, it's a piece of art itself.

What is the little scribble in the Frederik Meijer Garden & Sculpture Park logo?

That's not a scribble you see in the Frederik Meijer Garden's logo, it's actually a small piece of part. In a post on their Facebook page, they recently shared that the scribble is an artist's interpretation of one of the sculptures you can see at the park.

The scribble is said to be a 'free-form interpretation of the towering, stainless-steel abstract sculpture visible at the main entry—Kenneth Snelson's 'B-Tree II.', and when you see them side by side, it's pretty easy to see it's actually pretty close to the real deal, design-wise.

I prefer this over something obvious like a flower or one of the statues outright, it's much more memorable of a logo even if I didn't know what it was supposed to be prior to finding out this information.

So, no that's not a scribble. It's another amazing piece of art, just like you come to expect from the team at the Frederik Meijer Gardens and Sculpture Park.
