Michigan Heat: The Critical Difference Between an Advisory and a Warning
In Michigan a lot of people like to complain about how cold and dark it is during the winter time and that they can't wait for summer and the warmer weather to finally get here.

But when the extreme heat finally arrives all we want to do is run indoors and crank up the A/C to try and deal with the warmer temps.
Often when the weather does get warmer it can creep up into dangerous zones where Meteorologists issue heat advisories and heat warnings.
Beyond the general discomfort of the heat, I wasn't entirely clear on the distinction between the two. After some research, here's what I've discovered.
What Is The Difference Between A Heat Advisory and Heat Warning
The next time you hear that there is a heat advisory or a heat warning this is what it means.
Heat Advisory: Think of it as a "caution" sign.
The heat index is expected to reach levels that could be dangerous, especially if you're outside for a long time or doing strenuous activities.
It's hot enough that you could get sick if you don't take precautions.
Heat Warning / Excessive Heat Warning: This is a "danger!" sign.
The heat index is expected to reach extremely dangerous levels that pose a significant threat to life and health, even for short periods of exposure.
It's more severe and often lasts for a longer duration.
