But did you know that there's also at least one celebrity chef and reality star who's not just from Michigan, she's from West Michigan?

Did You Know That Kristen Kish is From West Michigan?

The name Kristen Kish may not be immediately recognizable to you, but if you've ever watched Top Chef or the most recent season of NBC's The Traitors, you'll recognize her face.

But before the lights and cameras and reality TV, Kristen Kish was a girl growing up in West Michigan. I learned this fun fact when she posted these photos on social media from a Detroit Tigers game where she threw out the first pitch.

She was born in Seoul, South Korea, but at just four months old, she was adopted by a family from Michigan and spent her childhood growing up in Kentwood. She attended East Kentwood High School, and even studied international business and econ at Grand Valley State University for a couple of semesters before leaving to attend culinary school.

In a recent interview with fellow Traitors star Eric Nam, Kish opened up about her adoption, but also what it was like being a Korean adoptee raised by non-Korean parents. She also talks about how, growing up in Kentwood, she was surrounded by other Korean kids and Korean families, so she grew up familiar with the culture.

Kish competed on the tenth season of Top Chef on Bravo, ultimately being crowned that season's champion. Eleven years later, Kish returned to Top Chef, not as a contestant, but as the host.

In 2026, Kish took on a different type of reality competition show when she appeared on the fourth season of NBC's The Traitors.

Kish has also released a memoir, titled Accidentally on Purpose, which was an instant New York Times and USA Today best seller.

Do you think that Kristen will ever end up with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame like these Michiganders?
