Some of these men and women are stationed around the world which means they are thousands of miles away from their loved ones making it difficult for everyone involved.

If you want to show your support and appreciation to our veterans and their family there is an opportunity that you can be part of to show how much you care and apricate our  veterans.

All you have to do is change your front porch lightbulb, to a green one.

What Is Operation Green Light

The Operation Green Light campaign encourages communities to show their support for veterans by illuminating buildings in green from November 4 to November 11, 2025.

This initiative is a meaningful way to express our gratitude to veterans and their families for their service and sacrifice.

It also aims to show appreciation and support for veterans and their families, letting them know they are valued.

Where To Get A Free Green Light Bulb

There are 2,000 free green lightbulbs available to be picked up at the following locations:

-Any Kent District Library Branch
-Any Grand Rapids Public Library Branch
-Or 836 Fuller Avenue NE in Grand Rapids
(while supplies last; one lightbulb per Kent County household)
