There's something special about being a supporter of a local business. Not only do you get the satisfaction of knowing you're potentially helping a family in your own community, if you're like me you might make friends out of them as you continue to frequent their business. You build a relationship that makes our community special, while also keeping money in our Michigan economy.

And I bet if I asked you what your favorite small business is, you'd probably be quick to name something you love in your neighborhood. And if you don't have an answer, that's okay- maybe this can be your pick.

The Michigan Small Business Development Center has named Lansing's Groovy Donuts among Michigan’s “Best Small Businesses" for 2023.

If you've never made a stop at these two unique donut shops while in Lansing, you're genuinely missing out. Back in 2015, Michigan State University graduates Andrew Gauthier and Monica Lucas opened their first '60s and '70s themed bakery known as Groovy Donuts in Williamston. It was such a success that the retro shop officially became a small franchise in 2016 when they added their second location in East Lansing.

And it's easy to see why they've beloved. From the fun decor and friendly staff, you'll already be sold. But, they also have tons of fun special styles and shapes of donuts, so there's always something new and fun to try.

They join 11 other businesses in sharing the title across the state, and honestly it's great to see such a fun and unique local business get the spotlight they deserve.

If you'd like to learn more about them or order some donuts for pickup, check out their website.
