West Michigan Family Asks For Help Finding Stolen Dinosaur
There have been a lot of stories circulating on social media recently of things being stolen from people around West Michigan.
Generally, it's car break-ins or the KIA boys striking again, but one West Michigan family had a beloved family member stolen from their yard recently. But it wasn't a pet.
Dinosaur Statue Stolen From West Michigan Yard
This may be one of the oddest posts about theft in Grand Rapids that I've ever seen.
A woman named Ginger took to Facebook this week to ask for help in locating one of her family's prized possessions - a 180-pound T. rex statue that adorns an area of her yard.
Some in the comments are calling the prehistoric creature "Sexy Rexy", but it's unclear if that is truly the dino's name.

The statue isn't just sitting there in its natural state all of the time. It appears that Ginger and her family dress it up for seasons and holidays (think porch goose, but bigger, and heavier, and a dinosaur.)
At the time that it was pilfered, the dino was wearing bunny ears for Easter, but the thieves left the ears behind.
It appears as though Rexy, if that's its real name, was taken from Ginger's yard along Leonard Street in Grand Rapids either the night of April 21 or sometime during the day on April 22. And it's not an easy thing to steal - as Ginger pointed out in her Facebook post, the statue weighs 180 pounds.
Public Outraged After West Michigan Dino Statue Stolen
In the comments on a post that Ginger made in the We Are Westsiders group on Facebook, neighbors and frequent passersby chimed in with their outrage.

I love seeing it when I drive by! That’s so sad! It should stick out like a sore thumb, and I hope they return it! Share this folks!
And Kim has a good point - who wouldn't notice a new dino statue popping up in their neighborhood?
Denise K. loved the dino so much that she had planned to leave a note on it,
I was gonna put a note on him that said, thank you for sharing that with us. I am upset but if I see one anywhere, I will let you know.
It seems this dino was loved by both its family and those who would see it as they passed by.
