It's the most wonderful time of the year... and no, not just the time that Mariah Carey comes out of hiding for our annual enjoyment.

It's Christmas time here in West Michigan, and while the second year of Grand Rapids Christkindel Market has been running strong for a couple of weeks, we haven't truly kicked off the season until we've lit the city tree in the middle of Rosa Parks Circle. But- have you ever considered where the tree we'll see all season long comes from?

This year's lighting will be taking place on Saturday, December 7th at 6:45 pm, and the star of this year's show- the massive tree which will be adorned with lights for everyone to enjoy all season long, came from a place in Grand Rapids that you may have frequently passed and never known.

According to a post shared by Grand Rapids Parks and Recreation, this year's Christmas tree was cut down at Indian Trails Golf Course. Crews worked right before Thanksgiving to cut the tree down so it could be prepared for the big event.

If you're familiar with the course at Indian Trails, you may remember seeing this tree as you played the front nine. This year's Christmas tree came from the 6th hole, in a not so crowded spot off the fairway. (So maybe next season when you're shooting a terrible shot, it won't be in your way.)

Make sure you bring your loved ones out to Rosa Park Circle for the Santa Parade, followed by the tree lighting to kick off your Christmas season. If you need more details, check out the Facebook page for the event.
