Could Drake Be Headed to Grand Rapids This Friday?
I fully understand how this sounds, trust me. This is the kind of fan theory that lives somewhere between “this could absolutely happen” and “I’ve watched way too much wrestling.”
But hear me out: There is a small, kind of fun possibility that Drake could be coming to Grand Rapids on Friday.
Earlier this week, Drake’s clothing brand OVO dropped a teaser on Instagram that immediately set the internet off. The post showed the WWE Championship belt hanging from a turnbuckle, with the OVO logo underneath it and a very specific date: December 19, 2025.
Earlier today, they gave us highlights on what we will see coming out on that day from the clothing brand, and it RULES.
That date just so happens to line up perfectly with WWE’s already scheduled stop in Grand Rapids. What was originally announced as a single episode of SmackDown at Van Andel Arena is now also a taping of Monday Night RAW that same night, ahead of their holiday break.
Double tapings usually mean surprises since the WWE loves a moment. And right now, they could use one.
Ahead of John Cena’s emotional goodbye on Saturday, December 13 at Saturday Night’s Main Event, ticket sales have reportedly slowed a bit as fans head into 2026 feeling both sentimental and, let’s be honest, a little financially exhausted.
Wrestling fans are loyal, but they’re also human. So what better way to get people talking, move a few last-minute tickets, and give that OVO collaboration the biggest possible spotlight than a surprise Drake appearance?
Think about it, Drake is already a known WWE fan. (He was spotted earlier this year at Elimination Chamber, quietly sitting in the crowd) And Toronto where he currently lives, is basically next door to Grand Rapids in celebrity travel terms. So, it’s not like it would take much time out of his day to pop in and make an appearance to help everyone out.
To be clear, there is nothing official tying Drake to Grand Rapids this Friday. No confirmation. No announcement. But, wrestling has always lived in the space where anything can happen. (That’s kind of the whole point.)
When the dates line up this cleanly, the tease is this obvious, and the timing is this good, it’s hard not to let your imagination run a little wild.
Worst case scenario, we get a stacked night of WWE in Grand Rapids. Best case? Drake shows up, the internet loses its mind, and we all get to say we were there. Isn’t that part of the fun of the WWE universe? You never really know what’s coming next.
You can still get tickets if you want to be there on the Van Andel Arena website.
