Detroit Lions vs. Washington Commanders Game Gets Chippy

The game was chippy, with players on both sides chirping back and forth. There were plenty of scuffles during the game, but one such scuffle resulted in Commanders' defensive lineman Daron Payne being ejected from the matchup in the second quarter.

At first, viewers weren't sure what prompted Payne's ejection, but it soon became clear as they saw footage of Payne approaching Lions' wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown and throwing a punch.

Monday morning, NFL officials announced that Payne would be missing more than just the last two quarters of Sunday night's loss to the Lions.

According to a release from the NFL, Payne has now been suspended for one game without pay for his "act of unsportsmanlike conduct" during Sunday's matchup.

The Commanders are set to travel to Madrid this week, where they will play the Miami Dolphins on Sunday, November 16, at 9:30 a.m. EST.

Per the players' collective bargaining agreement, Payne can appeal the decision.
