The process of making an album is never simple, but what about when the lineup of your band starts to deteriorate? Five Finger Death Punch's new album is underway, and frontman Ivan Moody has vocalized how difficult the trek has been.

"This album has not been fucking easy to make," Moody expressed to Metal Hammer. "There was always somebody fucking quitting. Somebody wants to fire another guy, somebody's unhappy with someone's lifestyle. These things happen on a daily basis."

However, the vocalist acknowledged that rough patches for bands are usually what make for the best music. "If there weren't bumps in the road, it would have been a shit record because that's complacency and that's settling."

Moody is approaching two years of sobriety this coming March. According to guitarist Zoltan Bathory, the majority of the upcoming album's lyrical content hones in on the frontman's journey to sobriety.

Reflecting on his addiction battle, Moody highlights the upcoming single "Inside Out" as an all-encompassing account of the struggles he endured. "This is the first piece of music I've written since all this happened," he said of the track.

"So all these emotions, I finally get to put them out in a therapeutic way. It's about alcoholism. It's about my family leaving. It's about my bandmates. It's about looking at myself in the fucking face and saying, 'Dude, you're going to have to do this because nobody else is coming.'"

Five Finger Death Punch are currently out on tour with Three Days Grace, Bad Wolves and Fire From the Gods. See the dates here.
