Right before Thanksgiving, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration issued a warning for people to stop eating romaine lettuce because of an E. coli outbreak. Back then, the outbreak had sickened 32 people in 11 states, including Michigan and the numbers from the Centers for Disease Control showed that Michigan had seven cases of E. coli.

Well, that was last week and now the U.S. Food and Drug Administration says that only romaine lettuce from certain parts of California is unsafe to eat. The FDA says that as of November 26th, 2018, the E. coli outbreak has resulted in 43 people becoming ill in 12 states and an additional 22 people in Canada also got sick.

To prevent any more outbreaks, the FDA is going to implement a few changes. According to the FDA,  romaine lettuce entering the market will now be labeled with a harvest location and a harvest date. Romaine lettuce entering the market can also be labeled as being hydroponically or greenhouse grown and they say that if it doesn't have this information, you shouldn't eat or use it.
