Hurry, hurry!! If you play the lottery you could be losing out on a ton of money.

Michigan Lottery officials are URGING Michiganders to check any lotto tickets they may have forgotten about, specifically Fantasy 5. A winning ticket has yet to be claimed and its worth over $200,000. Can you imagine missing out on that much money? I would never ever forgive myself for that one.

The ticket hit the jackpot of $201,144 on September 2, 2020. In case you haven't noticed it's September 1st of 2021 right now and not one person has come forward to claim their winnings, and the clock is ticking.

The lotto office says that the ticket was purchased Superior Market in Ann Arbor. Fantasy 5 tickets have a one-year expiration date and this mystery person has until 4:45 p.m. Thursday to make their move. The winner should contact the Michigan Lottery Public Relations Division at (517) 373-1237 to schedule an appointment to collect their price at the main office in Lansing.

So let's say it goes unclaimed, then what? The money will be put into the School Aid Fund which funds schools K-12 in the state. Last year, 7.3% of the money in the fund came from the Michigan Lottery.

Fantasy 5 is only $1 to play and gives people a chance to win the jackpot starting at $100,000. Drawings are held every night at 7:29 p.m.

Now, we wait and see what happens...

Not only should you check your ticket to see if you won but before you toss what you think might be a loser, take a second look just in case. A couple months ago a Grand Rapids man almost threw away a $500,000 winning lotto ticket.
