When I was a kid, my sister really wanted the "Hungry Hungry Hippos" game and her Christmas wish was granted.

The object of the game is for each player to collect as many marbles as possible with their hippo. The game basically has levers on the back of the hippos that make the mouth move forward and open to grab the marbles. Whoever collects the most marbles wins.  It's a silly game but for little kids, it's easy and doesn't take a whole lot of skill to play.

The game was built for kids but adults can play too. I used to play it with my sister and her best friend and my mom would join in so we have four players.

John Ball Zoo is hosting a life-sized game of Hungry Hungry Hippos at Rosa Parks Circle. The life-sized version consists of you getting on an innertube while sliding on the ice with a laundry basket collecting as many balls as you can.

There is an actual tournament that is going on Saturday, February 25 from 12:30 to 7 p.m. You can either sign up for the "Family Division" or the "Adult Division." If you would like to get signed up for the event, click here. Whether you play or watch as a spectator, life-sized Hungry Hungry Hippos should be a lot of fun.
