UPDATE: Wooden Shoes Stolen From Holland Park Recovered

UPDATE: Both pairs of wooden shoes that were stolen from the Klompen Garden have been recovered by the Holland Police Department. They were slightly damaged, but have been repaired and returned to the garden at Centennial Park.

Who steals two giant wooden shoes?  What do you do with them? Where do you keep them?

The Holland Sentinel reports that someone stole two giant wooden shoes or klompen as they’re known from the “Klompen Garden” that’s been set up for 90^th Tulip Time Festival.  There were 45 shoes in the garden that area artists decorated for the festival which begins this weekend.

The Holland Sentinel says that workers were setting stuff up on Thursday when they noticed a pair of shoes on two corners of the park were missing. They know it happened sometime Wednesday night, but they don’t have a lot of other info on who needed giant klompen.

The shoes are 3 feet long and a foot wide and staked down in the ground. Apparently, the shoes and the stakes were missing.

Tulip Time communications manager, Simone Weithers, told the Holland Sentinel,

The stolen shoes are “Bloem Kus,” created by Claire Miller, featuring a turquoise background with orange painted tulips and “Klompen van Delftware,” by Heidi Weller, featuring a white background with traditional blue delft patterns.
