The iconic Henderson Castle in Kalamazoo, Mich. is up for sale.

The majestic estate was built in 1895 by by Frank and Mary Henderson, who are rumored to haunt it still today.

A successful businessman, Frank was the owner and president of Henderson-Ames Company, which made uniform regalia for secret societies, fraternal organizations, and the military.

His wife, Mary, inherited land on the western edge of Kalamazoo, and Frank hoped to create a grand suburb there. In 1888, he enlisted the help of surveyors, engineers, and landscape architects to plot the land and construction began in 1890. The castle-like exterior was made from Lake Superior Sandstone and brick. At the time, the mansion had 25 rooms in all, including a third-floor ballroom.

The Hendersons held a fabulous housewarming party in 1895 upon the completion of the mansion, with many of Kalamazoo's elite in attendance. After just four years in the home, Frank passed away. Mary lived until 1907. Along with other apparitions, it's Mary's ghost that many have claimed to spot at the top of the stairs.

Over the years, the home has had many owners. Most recently, it was purchased by Francois Moyet in 2010 for just over $1 million, MLive reports.

Henderson Castle has been transformed into an event venue that includes a Bed and Breakfast and restaurant.

According to the listing, the 14-bedroom, 16-bathroom, 11,000-square-foot mansion boasts:
