Heard of Cocaine Bear? Have You Heard Of Ohio’s Cocaine Cat?
A movie recently came out about a bear that found a drug dealer's stash and ate the cocaine called "Cocaine Bear," a cat in Ohio has now tested positive for cocaine.
Cocaine Bear
Before there was a movie called "Cocaine Bear" there was a real bear the film is based on. In 1985, drug smugglers dropped a large amount of cocaine in the wilderness of Tennessee. A 175-pound black bear now referred to as Cocaine Bear, Pablo Escobear, or Cokey the Bear, found the cocaine left by smugglers, ate it, and unfortunately, fatally overdosed.
Cocaine Cat Found In Ohio
What started off as a traffic stop soon turned into an exotic cat rescue. A driver in Ohio was pulled over by authorities and then arrested. When police went to search the car exotic cat jumped out and ran up a tree.
Animal control officers were called to rescue what at first was thought to be a leopard but then quickly realized it was a serval cat which happens to be illegal to own in the state of Ohio.
I have to admit it's a pretty cool-looking cat so I see why an owner might think it would be a cool pet.
Then looking at the picture above, this doesn't look like a friendly cat.
Cat Tests Positive for Cocaine
According to FOX 32, the cat was taken to Cincinnati Animal CARE where it was given a medical exam. In the process, the cat was tested for narcotics and it tested positive for cocaine.
There is no word on how the cat ingested the cocaine or if the cat has a bad habit but at this time the cat is in good care and recovering at the Cincinnati Zoo.
