Welch was asked a question by a guy on the street with her answer being "Hawk Tuah." The video has since gone viral, been remixed, re-created, and has been the topic of several online discussions. Memes have been created. Welch now has billions of followers and a line of merchandise. She's even appeared on stage with Zach Bryan and was seen hanging out with Shaquille O'Neal. Someone in Clawson, Michigan, owns the "Hawk Tuna" boat and the phrase "Fish on That Thang." Of course, this is a spinoff of the "Hawk Tuah Spit on That Thang" phrase on a fishing boat. Reddit poster "whalesalad" posed the question, "Whose man is this?" That is when Michiganders began to have even more fun.

Reddit poster "WaterFriendsIV" got the ball rolling by saying the boat, "Might also be parked within spitting distance of the police station." "Xombiemaster" responded with, "I see what you did there at the end." "SchpartyOn" also pointed out, "Ahh yes Michigan, known for its tuna."

"dno_bot" was the first Reddit poster to answer the original poster's question by saying, "This man is certainly single." Poster "ErevisEntreri" chimed in with, "Whose man? No one's cuz that's divorced energy if I've ever seen it."

Not everyone on this thread was happy about the boat name. Reddit poster "forerunner" said, "You should get your boat taken away for this." I found it odd that a poster with the handle "DJ-dicknose" said, "I hope it sinks."
