A mattress company in the UK called mornings recently did a study using Twitter to find out how people around the world sleep. They pulled data from the hashtags #GoodMorning and #GoodNight and found out what areas of the world were getting the most and least amounts of sleep based on when they tweeted.

The study found that the country with the most sleep based on their tweeting was the West African nation of Togo, which sleeps the most at 11 hours and 21 minutes a night. However, Barbados sleeps the least of any country at just under 6 hours.

The Motor City topped the list of cities that sleep the least, with an average of 5 hours and 19 minutes.

But it's not just Detroit who is missing out on their required sleep, the entire state of Michigan is also getting the least amount of rest of any in the United States. The residents of Michigan get an average of 5 hours and 56 minutes of sleep every night. Doctors recommend a minimum of 8 hours of sleep, so that's missing the mark by quite a bit for what we need.
