Grand Valley State University is helping make it easier for GVSU students on the Allendale campus to vote as they open a satellite clerks office in the Kirkhof Center.

According to the GVSU website, the Allendale Township Clerk’s satellite office will be available to students from October 13 - November 3.

The pop-up office is available for students who both live on-campus and off-campus housing in Allendale, except according to the GVSU website students living in Campus View, Grand Valley Apartment, and South Living Centers. Also, the website says that any students who are living south of Peirce Street need to register to vote, request an absentee ballot, or vote at the Georgetown Township Clerk's office at 1515 Baldwin St. in Jenison.

The GVSU website says students will be able to utilize the following services in the satellite clerk’s office:

  • Register to vote for the first time

  • Re-register with an Allendale address, if a student is already registered elsewhere

  • Request an absentee ballot

  • Vote and submit an absentee ballot, in person

Students who are registering or “re-registering” with their address in Allendale, they’ll need to bring proof of their residency. Out-of-state students are encouraged to visit the website of their home state Secretary of State to find out more about registering and voting out-of-state.

Both early voting and mail-in voting has begun for Ottawa County. If you plan to vote early, you have until Monday, November 2nd at 4 pm.
