New Shuttle Service Has Opened in Downtown Grand Rapids
Many major downtowns across the country offer shuttle services to help people travel to and from major events. Thanks to one local entrepreneur, Grand Rapids is now joining that list with a new downtown shuttle service.
Shuttle Options in Grand Rapids
Downtown Grand Rapids has experienced steady growth over the past two decades, fueled in part by the opening of Van Andel Arena. Since opening on October 16, 1996, with Neil Diamond as its inaugural headliner, the arena has become a cornerstone of the city's entertainment scene. From sold-out concerts to sporting events featuring the Griffins, the Drive, and Rise, Van Andel Arena continues to draw thousands of visitors downtown year-round.
The city's entertainment footprint has continued to expand with the addition of GLC Live at 20 Monroe, joining longtime staples like DeVos Performance Hall and The Intersection. Together, these venues host a wide range of concerts, performances, and special events throughout the year, helping make downtown Grand Rapids a year-round destination for entertainment.
With the Acrisure Amphitheater now open and Amway Stadium set to debut in March 2027 as the future home of professional soccer, downtown Grand Rapids is adding even more destinations for entertainment and sports. But with more venues come growing transportation challenges. Parking remains limited, and when multiple events are happening at the same time, navigating downtown can be difficult. Beyond city buses, electric scooters and bikes, or rideshare services like Uber and Lyft, visitors have few convenient options for getting around.

Hop Aboard the New Downtown Grand Rapids Shuttle
According to WOOD TV8, entrepreneur William McFadden is helping address that need by introducing three shuttle buses that will transport concertgoers to and from the Acrisure Amphitheater before and after every event. The shuttles will connect parking areas with local bars, restaurants, and the amphitheater, making it easier for visitors to enjoy downtown without the hassle of navigating traffic. A portion of the proceeds from the service will also benefit the Save a Life Art Youth Program.
Rides cost $10 per person and include a twist, each shuttle is equipped with karaoke and party lights, giving fans the chance to sing their way to and from the amphitheater. McFadden currently operates a fleet of three street-ready shuttles, with plans to expand the service by adding more vehicles in the future.
