Swimming Season Is Over, According To Grand Haven State Park
Despite two bouts of pre-fall chills, including a night that got down to 41°. But summer has come back with a vengeance, with high-80s predicted for the last full week of summer. Many people will want to head to the lake to cool off, and for good reason.

However, some of the state parks are already planning for the off-season, and that includes Grand Haven State Park, which announced yesterday that it would be wrapping things up for the summer. The park's announcement offers an interesting glimpse into how the park closes the beach for the season.
"It's time to wrap things up for now."
Yesterday on Facebook, the Grand Haven State Park posted that, due to operational needs, the park rangers would begin "wrapping things up for now." This means that the rangers have removed the swim buoys and are pausing daily water condition and temperature updates until next season.
What This Means For You
The parking lots and campground remain open, and the beach is still open for swimming; however, the green/yellow/red flag warnings will no longer be monitored. Swimming will be considered at the swimmer's own risk. The pier, too, will still be open for walking.

Water temperatures won't be monitored, but other parks will continue to monitor them until they also close for the season. You can view NOAA's daily water temperatures for nearby parks, such as PJ Hoffmaster, Muskegon, and Holland, here.
