Here is a game that to this day, I still want to complete just for the sheer fact that I beat it. This game is what I like to call a 'missed opportunity.' The Sega Genesis Jurassic Park games were fantastic! Then this 'family friendly' Jurassic Park game came around and REALLY confused me as a kid.

What: You most likely already know the story...You play as Alan Grant and attempt to escape the disaster that is Jurassic Park!

Why: I was fortunate enough to both own a Super Nintendo and a Sega Genesis as a kid, so I was able to enjoy both versions of the game. The Genesis game was a side scroller action game that was faster paced and had a dark theme to it. I usually had to keep the lights on to play this game as a kid. With the SNES one though, all I did was walk around and wonder WHAT THE F*** I was doing!

It had the classic top down view like the old Legend of Zelda games, but like the original Zelda...it didn't really give you any direction. I guess if you are into that type of thing, you may like it, but as a young kid and as an impatient adult, it no longer works for me. Most of the time I would end up getting lost in the park and usually end up killing myself in the game to keep myself entertained! I collect eggs for some reason, visit these towers that do something I guess, and usually get crushed by a rock or something.

Then there is the first person portions of the game. If Doom for SNES proved us anything, FPS on the SNES really don't work. At least the FPS sections of this game were at least a little smoother, but still do not translate well. Just like the top down sections of the game, I usually end up getting lost. Best part? If you die during these FPS sections, you go back ALL THE WAY to the beginning!!! Guess what? You have to go through the WHOLE THING AGAIN!

These are all irritating points, but what is the most annoying when it comes to this game? The icing on the cake? The cherry on the sundae?

NO PASSWORD or SAVE FEATURE!!!

This is what ruins the game for me. I grew up in the age of not having save features which are common today, but when you had a relatively long game back then, they at least treated you to a password. Redundant yes, but necessary to this game, and there is nothing! Even the Sega Genesis version had a damn password, and that game was a million times shorter! Since I know I die in the game frequently, it prevents me from playing game because I know that all the work I may have done to get to a point, would be useless.

Jurassic Park is one of the greatest movies of all time for me, but the SNES game...is a load of crap. If you like this game, you may need your brain checked.

According to the Longplay video below, you can beat it at little over an hour. However, you need to know EXACTLY where everything is.
