I feel like something happened to breakfast cereal in the late '90s and early 2000s. Something really crappy. All the sudden everyone got all "health conscious" and all "worried" that kids shouldn't be eating giant bowls of sprinkles and chocolate and candy coating for breakfast. So lots of delicious sugar-filled cereals got discontinued. It was a sad time.

But. There is hope! One of these cereals from back then is making a comeback: French Toast Crunch!

Now, FTC's brother, Cinnamon Toast Crunch, is still around. It survived the Great-Sugary-Cereal-Purge of the late '90s/ early 2000s. French Toast Crunch was not so lucky.

The tiny toast-shaped, maple-flavored bites hit shelves in 1995. The cereal was gone by 2006. Though, for some reason, still available in Canada. Rude.

However, General Mills just announced they're bringing French Toast Crunch back!

“We have been overwhelmed by the consumer conversations, requests and passion for the cereal to come back,” says Waylon Good, marketing manager for Big G. “We value our fans and are so excited to be able to bring it back for them.”

It seems FTC lovers were blowing up Twitter:
And even created a petition and several facebook groups to bring the back their favorite cereal!

And it worked!

General Mills says French Toast Crunch is available at select supermarkets and retailers beginning now, with nationwide distribution by the end of January 2015.

The response on Twitter has been positive.

What tasty treat from when you were a kid do you wish they'd bring back?

Here are some ads from back in the day to jog your memory. Remember Sprinkle Sprangles, Oreo O's, and Dunk-A-Balls?! (Yeah. There was a cereal called "Dunk-A-Balls".)
