Kids Food Basket

When I started working at WGRD I asked Free Beer and Hot Wings if there were one charity you would like to help out who would it be? They both replied Kids' Food Basket. We all agreed that we wanted to work Kids' Food Basket more so we recently volunteered for a few hours.

The Kids' Food Basket is a great organization. They work with schools to provide kids with food to take home who live in situations where they may not get to eat. The Kids' Food Basket provides 10,000 meals per day and sends food home with kids on the weekends too.

The Kids' Food Basket needs volunteers to cut up and pack vegetables, and decorate the lunch bags the food goes in. They have locations in Grand Rapids, Holland, and Muskegon. They also have farms in Grand Rapids and Holland and can use volunteers for both projects. You only volunteer for 2-hour shifts and it's a great opportunity for co-workers to team build, help out of the goodness of your heart, or take the kids to teach the next generation to lend a helping hand to those less fortunate.

If you would like to volunteer, signing up is easy at kidsfoodbasket.org. The staff at Kids' Food Basket are fantastic to work with and everyone has a positive attitude it is impossible not to smile while you are there helping out. Kids need to eat properly, it helps them grow healthy and it is proven that a healthy diet will help them learn better.
