Founder of Art Van Furniture, Art Van Elslander, Dies at 87 [VIDEO]
Founder of Michigan-based Art Van Furniture, Art Van Elsander, has passed away at 87, WZZM 13 reports.
According to the Detroit Free Press, the Detroit native died early Monday from complications from lung cancer.
Elslander opened his first furniture story in 1959 in Eastpointe.
Art Van Furniture eventually grew to more than 100 stores throughout the Midwest.
Van Elslander was also a philanthropist, donating millions to charities across Michigan.
Mr. Van Elslander's funeral arrangements have not yet been announced.
