Ford unveiled its first full-size battery-powered pickup truck in May of 2021. It was in April of 2022 when the first electric F-150 rolled off the assembly line.

Ford had no problem getting orders for the new line of electric F-150s when they received a 3-year backlog of reservations from consumers who were eager to get behind the wheel of a Lightning.

I have a pretty long drive to and from work and have already seen several of the Ford F-150 Lightning traveling up and down U.S. 131. They are good-looking pickup trucks that don't make a sound and you don't have to stop and buy gas anymore. You do have to charge them but not having to pay these high gas prices pays for the truck.

A day after Ford announced its new battery plant that will be built in Marshall Township, Michigan, the company had to halt all production and shipping of the F-150 Lightning.

This has to be very frustrating for the Ford Motor Company along with all the consumers that have reserved one of the F-150 Lightning pickups.

Why Did Ford Stop Production of the F-150 Lightning?

According to FOX 17, an F-150 Lightning battery caught on fire during a pre-delivery quality check. It will take a few weeks to figure out what happened and how to fix the problem. Until that gets worked out, no F-150 Lightnings are being built or shipped out.
