Now that the school year is right around the corner, a lot of parents are wondering what the mask requirements might be for their children. Well, we found a handy dandy tool for you to stay updated with the latest mask mandates for every school district in Michigan.

As of August 18th, only a few school districts in West Michigan have announced indoor mask requirements for the 2021-22 school year, but that number could rise after the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) raised the COVID-19 community transmission risk rate from "substantial" to "high" for several West Michigan counties. Right now, Grand Rapids Public Schools, Kentwood Public Schools, and Holland Public Schools are some of the school districts in West Michigan that have announced indoor mask requirements for students and staff.

There are still dozens of school districts in West Michigan and throughout the state that haven't made any announcements on mask requirements, so being able to quickly find that information is quite handy.  That's why we wanted to share a tool created by Chalkbeat Detroit that is constantly updated with mask policies throughout the state.  You can search your school district with their search feature, or you can just check their interactive map for a quick reference of which school districts are recommending or requiring masks.

And as always, be sure to keep checking this site for any and all COVID-19 updates both local and national.
