This is the weekend! Time to change the clocks and “fall back”.

On Sunday, November 6, 2016, at 2:00 am we officially turn the clock back one hour — back to 1:00 am — as we return to standard time instead of Daylight Saving Time. (And yes, the correct spelling is “Saving” not “Savings”. There should be no “S” on the end!)

Also, I always like to remind people this it is a good time to check the batteries in your smoke detectors (and carbon monoxide detectors). Even most of your “hard wired” detectors have a battery backup, so remember to check those batteries so that the devices are ready to go if they ever need to be used.

And how many of us will have to dig out the owner's manual for our cars in order to reset the clock in our vehicle!? Or, perhaps you never changed it in the spring -- and now it will be the correct time again!

Don't forget the one clock I always overlook when resetting the clocks... the time on the digital thermostat! (I am very thankful for the clocks that automatically reset themselves.)

If you don't like changing the clock in the spring and fall you have an option of moving to a place that leaves the time alone... Most areas of the United States observe daylight saving time except Arizona (except for the Navajo, who do observe daylight saving time on tribal lands), Hawaii, and the overseas territories of American Samoa, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico and the United States Virgin Islands!
