As of this month, it's been three years since Every Time I Die released their eighth studio album, Low Teens. But this week, the band informed the public that work on its follow-up is finally underway.

As evidenced in an austere image shared via the outfit's official social media outposts, the beginning of this week also brought the start of work on the band's ninth album. The news comes after Every Time I Day last month announced the lineup for the 2019 edition of their annual "'TID the Season" holiday concert. See the recent pic from the band down toward the bottom of this post.

"Record 9. Day 1," reads the band's spartan message from Monday (Sept. 9). In the accompanying black and white photo, ETID members are shown in a studio space surrounded by musical equipment.

It's the first major update from the Buffalo-based punk and metalcore group since it was reported earlier this summer that the band were being sued by a concertgoing fan over an amputated toe.

As for the long wait between full-length efforts from Every Time I Die, perhaps some of that delay can be chalked up to vocalist Keith Buckley's tenure as frontman in metal supergroup the Damned Things with members of Anthrax and Fall Out Boy. The side project, first launched in 2009, reunited earlier this year to release second album High Crimes and embark on a U.S. tour.

Tickets for Night 1 of "'TID  the Season" 2019 in Buffalo, New York — featuring sets from Every Time I Die along with Against Me, the Damned Things, Terror, Harms Way, All Get Out and Mercy Union on Friday, Dec. 13 — are currently on sale now. Weekend passes and Night 2 (Dec. 14) tickets are already sold out.
