Michigan’s Best Fine Dining Restaurant Belongs in an English Fairytale

Michigan is home to some excellent fine dining restaurants. From centuries old steakhouses, to modern fusion joints, there are plenty of eateries to frequent when you are feeling fancy.

The restaurant that's been declared the best in the state though, won't just fill you up with culinary delights, but also transports you to to the English countryside.

Lovefood.com sought to find the top fine dining establishments in each state, using reviews, awards, and the experiences of their team.

The foodie publication's pick for best fancy restaurant in Michigan is The English Inn in Eaton Rapids.  

It was also Lovefood's choice for the most memorable restaurant in the state.

Seriously how stunning are the buildings and the grounds? The English Inn is set within 15 acres of sprawling gardens - it's like something out of an English storybook!

The English Inn is more than a restaurant, pub, and hotel - it's also the historic Medovue Estate of Irving and Janet Reuter. Irving was the president and general manager of Oldsmobile.

The residence was completed in 1927. After several different owners, including the Catholic Church, the property was converted into an inn in 1989. In 1991 it was declared a state registered historic site.

The dining room at the English Inn is truly memorable, with wood paneling, framed paintings, richly-colored fabrics, and a roaring fire.

On the menu you'll find appetizers starters like shrimp cocktail, baked brie, caviar, beef tartar, escargot, and French onion soup.

The entrée specials change seasonally, but some examples are Scottish salmon, scallops, seared duck, honey cherry chicken, and sweet pea risotto.

Dinner items always available include lobster stuffed walleye, filet mignon, beef wellington, and English prime rib.
