I have walked a purse, belt and god only knows what else back to my car at DTE Energy Music Theatre over the years. As someone who does carry a purse and or bag, I have known for quite some time that over sized bags and purses are not allowed at the popular outdoor music venue.

However, from various posts recently on social media - this is new information to quite a few people. The venues official rule on purses and backpacks reads as follows,

To uphold health and safety protocols, minimize contact and ensure a more seamless entry process, our venues have adopted a no bag policy.

Exceptions to this policy include bags needed due to medical necessity including diaper bags, breast pumps and other medical devices. Medical bags must measure smaller than 14" x 14" x 6" and be screened at a designated entrance.

Single compartment wallets smaller than 5" x 7" x 1.5", with or without a handle or strap are permitted.

As you read in the last sentence, you can bring in a wallet or small purse - just nothing over sized. Makes sense to me. I don't want to wait in line longer than I have to while employees have to check thousands of giant bags.

The only thing I need at a concert is my cigarettes, which will fit in a 5 x 7 bag and or purse of some sort, my ID, and $350 for booze. If you are attempting to take anything other than the above items in, good luck to you.

My first show this summer at DTE will be The Black Crowes and Dirty Honey this Thursday, July 29th. Look for me and my tiny purse.
