Since opening earlier this month, Cedar Point has been requiring guests to make reservations ahead of time, as part of the park's COVID-19 safety procedures.

That changed Tuesday, July 21, as the park announced on Twitter that reservations were no longer required.

The Sandusky Register reports that Cedar Point spokesperson Tony Clark says reservations are no longer necessary:

“We originally implemented reservations to help with social distancing during arrival, but we’ve learned that we are still able to maintain all of our health and safety protocols without requiring them."

Clark says the park is operating at 50 percent capacity; if capacity is neared, guests will be alerted via social media.

Other safety precautions are still in place that are highlighted in the above video.

  • Health Screening – all guests must complete a health screening declaration within the Cedar Point mobile app 24 hours prior to entering the park.
  • Temperature Screening – guests and associates will undergo a touchless temperature screening prior to entering the park.
  • Face Coverings – guests and associates will be required to wear a mask at all times.
  • Social Distancing – markers and signage will be placed throughout the park to assist with social distancing of at least six feet

Guests do still need to purchase tickets in advance online.

According to the Sandusky Register, the park is also requiring a timed access pass to ensure social distancing on popular rides like Steel Vengeance, Top Thrill Dragster, Millennium Force and Maverick.

Some rides, like Forbidden Frontier, Snake River Falls, Snoopy Bounce, WindSeeker, and Rougarou remain closed. You can find a list of closed rides here.
