To determine its ranking of the best road trip in every state, 24/7 Tempo pored over National Park Service sites, travel sites, and state tourism sites. The natural beauty of many states is highlighted in the tons of parks, scenic drives, and overlooks throughout these trips. Still for other states, the focus is on history, sports, or music.

For example, Michigan's neighbor Indiana is praised for its "Haunted Places Tour". The 302 mile long stretch starting at Primrose Road in South Bend, passing by cemeteries, a former asylum, spooky bridges, and other supposedly haunted spots, and ending at the Willard Library in Evansville, where you may see the famous Grey Lady apparition.

The 600+ mile trip runs along Lake Michigan and Lake Superior and passes waterfalls, sand dunes, lighthouses, cliffs, and so many beaches.

Starting at Holland's beloved "Big Red" lighthouse, you'll then head north and visit several more historic lighthouses and Sleeping Bear Dunes.

In Suttons Bay and Traverse City, wineries, restaurants, shops, and more gorgeous beaches await you. Continuing north, other stops include Charlevoix, Petoskey, and Mackinaw City.
