This Michigan Restaurant Named the Best Place for French Fries

Foodie website Lovefood.com sought to find the best French Fries in each state.

Their selections include restaurants where they're tossed in secret seasonings, to hole-in-the-wall eateries people travel across the country to visit.

To determine the top fry joints in each state, Lovefood took into account user reviews, awards and accolades, and the first-hand experience of their team.

When it comes to the top fries in Michigan, there is one place that comes to mind as its fries have often made national "best" lists -- Hopcat. That is not Lovefood's pick for best fries in the Mitten State though.

That honor goes to Michigan's Union Joints.

There are multiple locations around the state - though keep in mind, not all the restaurant's serve French Fries.

One that does is Union Woodshop in Clarkston, Mich.

In addition to hand-cut fries (sometimes poutine is featured as a special too), you'll also find burgers, burritos, BBQ dishes, and pizza on the menu at Union Woodshop.

Another restaurant in the group serving up fries is Vinsetta Garage in Berkley, Mich.

Among many other things, the menu includes Disco Fries: Hand-cut fries topped with Ellsworth cheese curds, whole grain mustard gravy, chili flakes, and scallions.

Additional Union Joint restaurants serving up fries are Fenton Firehall and Bunkhouse Burgers.

(Though you won't find French Fries there, I thought it was interesting to note Union Joint's also operates Emimen's Detroit eatery, Mom's Spaghetti.)

There's around a dozen Union Joints across the Great Lakes State, all with different identities and food styles, and sadly not all serve fries. What customers everywhere agree on, though, is that if your location does have fries on the menu, you need to order them. No matter what kitchen they come from, the fries from a Union Joint are guaranteed to have a nice crunch and fluffy inside, and be perfect either alongside a burger or as a standalone snack.

No question we love our French Fries in Michigan, as fries were the top Door Dash order in the Great Lakes State last year:
